Drop the Weight
If you've ever lost a few pounds, you know how much better you felt. Shedding that extra weight probably resulted in more energy, better sleep, easier breathing, and improved confidence. The more you lost, the better you felt. If you're like me, you've played this weight loss game more than once. Each time the extra pounds begin to accumulate again, I begin feeling more sluggish, depressed, and irritable. It takes work to lose weight and keep it off.
Weight, however, doesn't just appear in the form of pounds. You might be weighed down by guilt, shame, regret, anger, adultery, addiction, or grief. The longer you carry the load, the more tired you become - physically, mentally, and spiritually. You ache from head to toe and heart to soul.
You don't have to carry these burdens around. Make a choice to drop this kind of weight just like you drop the extra pounds when you put your mind to it. Leave it at the foot of the cross. Once you let go, you will feel a sense of peace. Give it totally to God and let Him carry it for you. That's what He wants. You weren't created to carry this extra weight on your shoulders or hide hurts deep within.
Cast your burden on the Lord,
and He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.
Are you desperate for relief right now? Perhaps the burden you're carrying has become so heavy, you can barely stand. You can't even walk. If you can't walk, you can't move forward. He promises that you will not be shaken if you cast your burden on Him. He will sustain you.
Jesus will take your burdens and give you the strength you need to push through difficult situations. If you fully trust in Him and give all your cares to Him, He will see you through. Don't procrastinate. Pray right now. Ask the Lord to take all your burdens. Admit that you cannot carry them. Ask Him to give you strength and peace. Pray for wisdom and guidance, and allow Him to handle the situation.
Now put one front in front of the other and move forward. Remember, He will sustain you!
